Yoga for Your Back

How to Keep Your Lower Back Happy and Healthy
Align your spine for a deeper relaxation and learn how to maintain an injury-free state, with emphasis on problems of sacroiliac and lower back pain.

We will focus on aligned lengthening and strengthening with back supported, belly down, standing, twists, and inverted poses. We will use chairs, blocks, blankets, and straps to safely accomplish these postures. A focus on the natural breath will be included to enhance relaxation and reduce tension within the body-mind.

Ann Gill is a student of BKS Iyengar of Pune, India. She has studied this therapeutic alignment form of yoga for the last 15 years and is currently studying with Kathleen Pringle, certified Iyengar yoga teacher of Atlanta, Georgia. Her background is as a licensed occupational therapist, massage therapist, and clinical social worker who incorporates her understanding of body and energy work into her yoga teaching. Ann is particularly interested in the therapeutic applications of asanas (physical postures) and pranayama (breath practices) as they apply to challenging conditions of the body and mind.

Cost is $40.00, and includes lunch that follows the workshop.
